Supporting Local
At Beast & Cleaver, we prioritize sourcing our animals locally and responsibly. Around 80% of our meat comes exclusively from farms in Washington, with another 10–15% sourced from the Pacific Northwest. Occasionally, we go beyond the region to bring you exceptional products that can’t be found here, like Japanese Wagyu or foie gras.

Regenerative, Seasonal Farming
We partner with Pacific Northwest farms that prioritize heritage breeds, ethical animal husbandry, and environmentally-conscious farming practices. While not all of our meat carries the expensive (and sometimes misleading) organic label, it is pastured, and almost always raised organically in practice.
We’ve opted out of the broken commodity meat system, which manages animals in appalling conditions on diets of antibiotics and GMO feed. Since we eat what they eat, sourcing is our top priority. We also buy only in season, which is why you won’t find products like chicken or lamb at Beast & Cleaver year-round.
Whole Animals
Sourcing whole animals also allows us to support small, local, and organic farms while keeping pricing more accessible. By buying whole, we’re able to invest in higher-quality, ethically raised livestock at a more affordable cost—passing the benefits on to you and the planet. And by utilizing every part of the animal from nose-to-tail, we honor the lives that sustain us without waste.

Better Quality, Better Flavor
At Beast & Cleaver our focus is on animal husbandry, what they eat, and where they come from. Animals that lead stress-free lives and eat healthy food just taste better. Ethically raised, pastured, local meats deliver superior flavor and have a smaller environmental footprint. That’s why we partner with local farms committed to carbon-smart, ecological farming practices.
